Casa Romo Cocina Mexicana opened its doors May
of 2002 by Jose and Socorro Romo in Ardmore,
OK. They have over 40 years experience in the
food industry.

Jose was born on the outskirts of San Juan de los
Lagos in Jalisco, Mexico. His wife of 36 years,
Socorro, was also born in this quiet, sleepy town.

Jose first visited the United States in 1964. His
first job was as a busboy working at El Charrito in
Oklahoma City. He moved on to work at prominent
hotels and eventually became the head cook in two
hotels in Tulsa, OK. Socorro joined him in Tulsa
and also went to work as part of the kitchen staff
in one of the same hotels as her husband.

In 1988, they moved their family to Ardmore, OK to
manage a Mexican restaurant.  After several years,
it was Jose's belief downtown Ardmore needed a
full service sit down restaurant. He was right; and
since Casa Romo Cocina Mexicana opened its
doors, the downtown businesses have enjoyed
eating at a full service sit down restaurant within
walking distance.

Casa Romo Cocina Mexicana is a member of
Ardmore Main Street, an organization dedicated to
promoting business in Ardmore’s historic
downtown.  In addition, Casa Romo is also a
member of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce.

In August of 2002, Casa Romo Cocina Mexicana
received the Silver Seal of Progress Award from
the Chamber of Commerce for “engaging in a new
business and in recognition for public spirited
cooperation with the Ardmore Chamber of
Commerce and the City of Ardmore.” In November
of the same year, Jose received the Ardmore Star
award, also from the Chamber of Commerce, for
believing in the American dream.
